Exploring types of telecommuters: A latent class analysis approach

نویسندگان

چکیده

Despite initial evidence on employees’ motives for telecommuting, studies so far never investigated if and how distinct telecommuting might co-occur. In the current study (N wave 1 = 1297 employees; N 2 564 employees), we use Latent Class Analysis identify three classes reflecting specific combinations of motives: job requirement class (telecommuting because one has to), efficiency to cope with deadlines pressure) work-life balance have a healthy between work family/leisure). Our analyses show that employees belonging same also tend share certain context (in terms characteristics such as speed autonomy). Furthermore, motive predicted outcomes six months later: Whereas found no significant associations outcomes, in reported more vigour less emotional exhaustion, vigour, exhaustion satisfaction. Implications theory practice are discussed.

An application of Measurement error evaluation using latent class analysis

‎Latent class analysis (LCA) is a method of evaluating non sampling errors‎, ‎especially measurement error in categorical data‎. ‎Biemer (2011) introduced four latent class modeling approaches‎: ‎probability model parameterization‎, ‎log linear model‎, ‎modified path model‎, ‎and graphical model using path diagrams‎. ‎These models are interchangeable‎. ‎Latent class probability models express l...

Examination of polytrauma typologies: A latent class analysis approach.

Potentially traumatizing events (PTE) are highly prevalent, and are associated with detrimental effects on psychological health, including increased risk of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Multiple endorsed PTEs (polytraumatization) may have even greater effects on a person's health than the impact of a single index event. To better understand patterns of polytraumatization, person-center...

Temporal eating patterns: a latent class analysis approach

BACKGROUND There is some evidence that large energy intakes towards the end of the day are associated with adverse health outcomes, however, studies of temporal eating patterns across the day are rare. This study examines the temporal eating patterns of Australian adults using latent class analysis (LCA), as a novel approach. METHODS Dietary data (n = 2402 men and n = 2840 women, ≥19 years) f...

Exploring differential health effects of work stress: a latent class cluster approach

BACKGROUND While evidence highlights the detrimental health consequences of adverse working conditions, effect sizes vary by the stressor examined. In this study, we aimed to explore the differential effects various constellations of job demands have on prevalent symptom clusters. METHODS We analysed self-reported data from a nationwide Austrian survey (N = 16,466), based on a cross-sectional...

Reconsidering Social Capital: A Latent Class Approach

Social capital has proven to be a useful concept, but has been ill-defined and not wellmeasured in the economics literature. We propose a different empirical method for measuring social capital, latent class analysis, based on the idea that social capital is an unobservable multidimensional construct. We explain and demonstrate the construction of latent classes that measure an individual’s soc...
